Question #3
One of my heroine’s is a genuinely nice person –about as far from kick butt as you can get– but many of my readers have commented she is the strongest heroine they’ve ever met. Have you ever met heroines that defied the normal but somehow impressed you all the more for it? What was it about them that drew you?

Heroines that impress me fight for themselves, stand up for themselves and know everything about sex. *G* They don’t let a man treat them like a doormat, walk all over them and abuse them. Uh-uh. A strong independent woman is what I like and if she can kick butt…more power to her!!
Funny, I just watched “Kill Bill I and II *each for the second time* and I was telling my fiance I wish…oh, how I wish I could whup ass like Uma Thurman does.

I like the heriones that are a little more shy and the guy really has to pull her out, but once she realizes that he is what she wants, she is aggresive.

I like heroines that are emotionally damaged, but find their motivation to become stronger to protect their children.
A woman who is normally meek and mild, but finds the strength to fight like a lioness to protect her offpring…well, that impresses me!
But generally, the kick@$$ wimmens are what I like to read about!

Has anyone in here read that “Kick @$$” trilogy that’s out in trade paper? If so is it good?

I havent’ read it yet Is Kcik a** part of the title?

Melissa, I have read it. It was pretty good. It contained stories by some of my favorite authors, my favorites were the Maggie Shayne and Angela Knight stories. MJD’s was not her best, IMO…but I still love her work! And the Jacey Ford was pretty cute.
Sarah, “Kick @ss” is the title of the anthology.

Brill, Angie. I might have to check it out. Thanks. MJD’s been getting some bad reviews lately. That’s a bummer. I like her books. What’s everyone reading? I wish I were reading a western by Sarah. *BG* Sarah? Are your books in print and can be found at my nearest bookstore? And, what are you working on now? Do you have Native Americans in your stories?

Melissa:
All of the Promises series are in print and in Borders stores. (Promises Linger, Promises Keep and Promises Prevail) Can’t miss them, they are huge books. *G* So is Mac’s Law which is a fun, fast moving contemporary
Two of my heroes are half Native American. Jenna and Clint in Promises Prevail adopt one half Native American child and later the child’s older brother when they discover the connection. The boy they adopt will have his own story as everyone is in love with him already. His story will wrap up the Promise series, but spin off another one. (and y’all are the first to hear that bit of news *G*)
I’m currently working on the second book of the Unchained series. This contemporary sereis is about women who have thrown off the chains in their life, whether emotional or mental, and are on a journey to find themselves The men they meet along the way are dominant, tender and have a wicked sense of humor. In other word, scorchers! Where the Promise series is supposed to put you in touch with all your emotions, the Unchained sereis should leave you feeling as if you just stepped off a thrill ride in a theme park, exhillerated, breathless and ready to go again.
Angie- Thanks I’ll look that up.
Rebecca- That’s how Jenna is. (Promises Prevail) Very nice, very shy, very sweet. Until she met Clint, she was never allowed out of her shell, but Clint is the kind of guy that makes a woman feel safe enough to try new things without being smothering, so by the end of the book, Jenna has grown into herself. Not kick ass still, but more the person she always wanted to be. And a lot of the strength she hid showing stong right along with her personality.

Very nice. I’m going out today and I know I will find my way to a bookstore. We don’t have a Borders in Newport. I’ll try Waldens or B&N. I’ve gotta say I love the cover of PK the best. YUM! lol! I’m thrilled you have Native Americans in your stories. What nation? Did you do tons of research on this nation? *G* I’m getting ready to teach myself the Lakota language.
OH, LORD! I’d love to throw off the mental and emotional chains in my life and find myself. Sarah, have you been a fly on my wall? *G* Thanks for sharing your news with us first.
It’s been raining straight for three days now. I have to go build an ark.

OK, I’m so over these bookstores in Newport. In Waldenbooks in CT they carried EC books. Here? No. These bookstores are for tourists looking for a beach read. I’ll try B&N. They probably carry the EC’s. I HOPE!

Melissa,
Just avoided Ark building here, but as soon as the ground dried out we got another inch of rain. With five big dogs and a small house, you have no idea of the mud I’m currently battling!
My local Borders stocks all romances well, including EC, but I have to confess I tend to buy online because I have to drive an hour to get to Borders.
I’m waiting for the glitch to be fixed that has Promises Prevail not showing up as available through Ingrams stocking (B&N and such) because it is in stores. Checked my Local Borders and they had ordered three copies. I was signing them in store and a lady came up and took one right out of my hands!! That was cool It’s a big book. Half again as big as PL, which apparently is what caught her eye. She likes thick books and romances that take her deep into the story and finds she gets that more often in the big books.
I have to go back today because they sold my other copies and have a new shipment in to be signed. For that I don’t mind driving! *G*

Sarah,
We just avoided ark buiding here too! Massive Noreaster here yesterday with heavy rain at times and very strong gusts of wind. Hmmm…I could have used a heavy book to hold me down. *G* Beautiful day today.
When I lived in CT, I used to drive an hour to visit a Borders, B&N and a Waldens at a mall. We had a good Waldens in New London, CT that stocked EC and our Borders was just as good. I told my fiance last night I feel I’m missing stuff and I want to drive to Borders in New London, CT this weekend. So, it’s an hour and I think we’re going. If so, I’m snatching up any of your books I can find! Yes, a Sarah overdose. LOL! Ahhh, what a way to go. If you don’t mind driving you shouldn’t mind sharing. *VBG* I want a signed copy!! I don’t hold back….and I’m relentless….or a pain in the a…..lol!

I think I did a signing at the Borders in New London last summer. And I never mind sharing. I can send you a book plate if you like. Of course, one thing you have to understand is I live a half hour from the post office. It’s tiny, run by a rather unbending sort who has RULES that have nothing to do with the post office regs, and there is absolutely no parking so I don’t often make it. Always best to get on my to do list because I tend to go and do everything in huge batches. Today, I went and sent out ten boxes of books. My last ten. I cleared a huge number of books (more than 100) off my keeper shelf and sent them out to my readers on my yahoo group who signed up for the ones they wanted. Had to do it in batches because theh Lordess on High of the Post office objects to one customer taking up too much time. Even if there isn’t anyone else in the office. I tell you, if the woman didn’t amuse me so much I might get annoyed. She is definitely going in a book.

No way! If you had signed in New London I would have met you. Were you on the EC tour bus? If so, I believe that was Newington. Farther north in CT. I missed that because I went to VA.
#$@%!! Why am I not on your yahoo group? I’d love a signed book plate, Sarah. Thank you so much.
Our post office is picky too. Do you live near me? *G* When we first moved here our postperson wouldn’t leave our mail because our last names weren’t in the mailbox. Good title for a book about the woman you describe: Post Nuclear, Post Awful and The woman in the Post Orafice. ROFLMAO!
October 29th, 2005 at 1:29 pm
Maybe it was Newington. I was with the bus. Too bad I missed you.
And, I don’t know why you aren’t on my yahoo group. Maybe because it’s a chatty place and we generate lots of messages?
(Laughing at post orifice summation) You’ll have to email me you Snail mail address and whatever book it is for.
And I don’t think we live close together, but maybe our post-mistresses went to the same finishing school?

It was Farmington and I’m so bummed I missed it!! I want to see if the EC bus will go to New London, CT. I was there yesterday and saw my favorite manager *PHIL* at Borders Express. Now, it was a Waldens when I left in July of this year but they had changed since I moved. Phil lets me set up booksignings for the store. He also lets me bring in tons of promo and they DO hand it out. If you ever want me to take bookmarks or something in large amounts out to stores I can do it. Even here in Newport they welcome authors and promo at the two Waldens.
Thanks Sarah! I’ll e-mail you for the bookplate. YAY!
Gotta love the post oriface…..LOL!
