Hmmm…I was raised in Texas and people there are for the most part friendly. Now I live in the north and a lot of people are cold, rude and nasty. I don’t ever want to be that way. I’m used to asking someone for the time and they say “here, take my watch”. Not like up here where they say “f*** off”. LOL! I guess what I want out of life is to be decent to others. Not treat everyone like crap. Does that make sense?

  2. Sasha Says:

Makes total sense! I’ve travelled all over the world and I think where you are raised has a huge influence… but I wonder if people whodon’t travel notice it as much.

  3. Kathleen Says:

I have grown up around a major city (in the county) and I think there is a definite influence on how you react to people and life in general based on where you grew up. I like to go on vacation to a park in the Ozarks where there is a small town feel. People there seem to be a lot more open about helping people and just have a smile on there face more often…and are not in a rush!!! Where I live in the county is just one big race to get where you are going. I need to find a mix between a small and big town….I guess that would mean a medium town LOL :)

  4. Melissa Says:

I’ve traveled all over the world too, Sasha. When I was young my Mom and I hit the road every chance we got. She took me to Europe! As for people who don’t travel as much, I don’t think they’d notice it. They’d have to travel to other places to figure it out.

  5. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

funny that you mention the friendliness. So far all the Americans that I met are much nicer than the Germans. When I come back from the US it is always a shock how rude and unfriendly the people here are.

  6. Melissa Says:

    Hi Danny,
Hmm..I found the French to be much nastier then the Germans. I met a guy in the Air Force years ago from Sost and he was the deal! He sent me a huge box of German goodies when he left the states and went back to Germany. I lost contact with him and I’m bummed. His name was Andreas *I can say his last name but not spell it*. I have found German men to be very rough and kinky in bed. *bg* OK, all this talk…I wanna visit you, Danny! Where are you? *g*

  7. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

the French are really terrible. They are especially bad if you aren’t able to speak French. Strange I think German men are more like sleeping pills. Not so outgoing and open as US guys.

I live in Duisburg, that North to Cologne and Düsseldorf.

  8. Melissa Says:

How funny, Danny. ‘Cause I feel the same about US guys as you do German guys. OK, I’m on my way. *G* Sleeping pills…lol! Great description!

  9. Angie Says:

Hmmm. Sort of a “nature vs nurture” question!
I was raised in an average sized city in Georgia and now live in a very rural town so small our city is not even on the map!
I haven’t been to a lot of large cities. Atlanta and San Francisco are probably the two largest. And while I loved visiting both, I would not want to live in the city itself. In my experience, small towns, especially in the south, are much more open and friendly. They are less suspicious and definately less freaky! Not that freaky is a bad thing, but freaky 24-7 does tend to leave one a bit jaded… ;P

  10. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

maybe we should swap some men. *wink* LOL. Sometimes I wish I would live further south were the US bases are.

  11. Sasha Says:

Melissa and Danny! That’s too funny. I love Germans! Well the ones I’ve met anyway. I don’t find American particularly rude either. In general I thinkit’s more of a Big City attitude than a particular country. Or maybe it’s just that we, people in general, are friendlier to strangers in our countries than we are to our own neighbours? As for men, I think it depends on the man, not the nationality LOL

Angie. LOl Freaky every now and then is good. LOL I’m with you though. I grew up in mostly large cities, and I live in a large one now, but I know when I settle, it’ll be small town. They just feel more welcoming:)

  12. Danny Says:

    Sasha,

I know guys from many different nationalities and their attitude not only towards women is very different, you sometimes really want to wring their necks. I think they are very influenced by their traditional upbringing.

With the friendliness towards stranger it’s really funny. Till this year I have mostly been in tourist areas of Florida and also stayed in a hotel and I thought maybe the people are so friendly and helpful because they depend on the money (that happens unfortunately very often here Germany), but this year I stayed in a non-touristic area in a small neighborhood and it was as if we have been living their for ages

  13. Melissa Says:

OK, let me lay it out for ya’ll. Germans = kinky, British = so, so, Scottish = YES!
Spanish men = “I love you while I’m looking at every woman who passes by”, American men = “you do all the work” LOL!
Yea, Danny. Go visit the bases. Hot Army men. *g*

  14. Cherie Japp Says:

I have to laugh at some of the comments I read. Melissa and Danny are a trip. I was born and raised in New York City. My family and I moved to Florida in the early 90’s. People are more relaxed and friendly for the most part in the south. When I lived in New York, I knew people who cared about helping others and I knew others that did not want to get involved and wanted to be left alone. Unfortunately, in the big cities there is so much fear because you meet too many crazies. People are afraid to get involved. You just don’t feel safe. My husband who was born and raised in the south would hate living in a big city. He has a good heart and likes helping others and has this attitude of never having met a stranger.

  15. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

I was once at an Air Force base in the northern part of Germany as a child. There was some kind of American/German celebration. I still remember that men were nice, but the American ice cream was much more interesting. You see that my interest changed a lot in the years. LOL.

  16. Melissa Says:

I had a friend stationed in Stuttgart, Danny. He was a cutie. I met him and the German guy I was telling you about in El Paso. They were stationed at Fort Bliss.
OH, yea, ice cream rocks! Gimmegimmegimme…lol!
    What kinds do you like?

  17. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

the only US bases left are in the south of Germany. Here in my town we had the Brits, plus an IRA attack.

My favorite ice cream is chocolate!!!!!!!

  18. Kathleen Says:

Hey, I live in the US and I want to know where all of these cute Army guys in US bases are….I hope I don’t have to go all the way to the south of Germany :)

  19. Melissa Says:

An IRA attack? You mean with guns and everything!?
Oh, Danny, I love British Marine Commandoes. I’ve had some really great times with several of them. Hee.
My favorite ice cream is chocolate too!

Kathleen, you can find Army bases everywhere. Good luck! :-) Is there one near where you live?

  20. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

it was a bomb attack. I was pretty small when it happened and now the base is closed for a long time.

  21. Melissa Says:

Crikey! Danny. I thought you meant recently. That’s scary. Just like the Koreans and their missles.

  22. Danny Says:

No,no. The IRA got pretty quite outside of Great Britain and even there.

Yeah the situation worldwide is really scary.

  23. Melissa Says:

It’s scary because we have an ass**** for a pres. And ::::shaking head:::: we just don’t listen…..we just dont listen.

  24. Sasha Says:

Cherie, I want to move to Florida!!! LOL I’ve never been , but I thinkFlroida or Hawaii. LOL I’ve had enough of Northern winters.

  25. Sasha Says:

Angie, small towns tohe South, and the far North…I agree ..those are the friendliest. LOl

  26. Sasha Says:

Kathleen, I agree..it’s all those alpha army guys inromancce novels that make me want to check outthe bases. But In person, most military guys I’ve met don’t meet my expectations. I think maybe I expect too much LOL

  27. Sasha Says:

Melissa! I love the way you summed up men and the nationalities. LOL Great stuff!

  28. Kathleen Says:

Sasha, I agree. I think I would end up very disappointed !!

  29. Kathleen Says:

My expectations are high too!! But I’m sure their are a few good men LOL LOL !!

  30. Sasha Says:

We mighty have to spend a lot of time out there…searching. Such hard work. *wink*

  31. Danny Says:

I bet the searching will be a lot of fun *wink*

  32. Sasha Says:

Fun, tiring, exhuberating, I’d love to give it my best shot!

  33. Danny Says:

Count me in. I wouldn’t want to miss that fun *wink* We can use it as a research trip for our novels. LOL

  34. Melissa Says:

Sasha, you don’t want to live in Hawaii. Trust me. I lived on Oahu for two years. I had “island fever” and was depressed all the time. Wait a tic..sounds like me now.
I was so far from family and friends. It’s was terrible. Let’s move to FL!

Don’t waste your time on military men either. Crikey! I could write forever on this topic. I’ll say this…one night stand material. HA!

  35. Danny Says:

    Melissa,

there are some really nice places in FL.
