I do like action heroines. We got interested in the series “Alias” starring Jennifer Garner. Her character, Sydney Burrows, was a kick ass heroine and it was fun to see her work through her problems and think in her feet, always landing on them, but also seeing her vulnerability just beneath the surface. Tara Janzen also has some kick ass heroines in her “Crazy” series that are fun to read, specifically Skeeter Bang.
I am not picky…I love ALL types of heroines including action heroines. Maybe it is because I am a wimp in real life and I can live vicariously through the heroines I read about or watch on television.
I love action heroines. I suppose it has to do with wanting to see female characters who can do all of the same exciting things that men have been protrayed to do. Having capable, strong, intelligent heroines is inspiring. When I read, I tend to put myself into the heroine’s role a bit and I wouldn’t want to be a wimp.
I too love action heroines though I think some are better than others. I like my action hero and heroines to have some vulnerability and humanity visible in their personalities. The new James Bond movie is great at exploring James Bond’s humanity btw. That is why I loved Sydney Bristow and Buffy and I currently love Veronica Mars.
I totally enjoy a good kick-ass heroine. I love Lara Croft, but Eve Dallas is my favorite. Eve is the perfect mix of hard-ass and vunerabilty which makes her a fascinating character, IMO!
Hmm, my favorite action heroines from movies are Ripley from the Alien movies, Sarah Connor from T2, Lara Croft, Selene from Underworld, Gena Davis from The Long Kiss Goodnight, Milla Jovovich from the Resident Evil movies.
Book action heroines - Annja Creed from Rogue Angel, Rachel Morgan from Kim Harrison’s witch series, Dante Valentine from Lillith Saintcrow’s demon series, Joanne Baldwin from Rachel Caine’s Weather Warden series…
Yes, I like action heroines because I like the idea that they don’t need a guy to save them because they’re quite capable off taking care of themselves and the people around them but still able to acknowledge when they need help. My brother tells me my personality is a force of nature which is probably why I relate to intelligent and capable women best.
I’ll share my favourite action heroines because no one has mentioned them yet. I loved Sydney Fox from Relic Hunter and Abigail Whistler from Blade Trinity. My favourite borderline heroine would be Miss Parker from the Pretender.
What’s not to like..the heroines are independent, highly driven, powerful woman with a very competitive edge. They go after what they want and get it. They don’t need a man.
I love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s B.A.D. series of undercover operatives. Sydney Westbrook teams up with Josh Steele in B.A.D. Attitude… wow awesome!

This one made me think. I liked CatWoman, but really in general do not like action heroines. I just can’t decide exactly why I don’t. I just don’t.

I don’t know that I like or dislike action heroines…I like to read about women who are smart and strong - not necessarily tough, just strong.
