I’m more of a Spring/Fall person. Here in Georgia we have a joke about the weather.
Our 4 seasons are warm, hot, unbearable, and Christmas.
Once it ever turns cold, I hate it!
I love spring the best. Fall is a close second.
In spring, all the daffodils, azaleas, gardenias, butterfly bushes and dogwood bloom. It is around 70 degrees and the days are pleasantly warm while the night are cooler. You don’t need the heater or the air-conditioning and you can leave the windows open and smell all the flowers that are blooming! You can ride with the top down on the car and the sun beating down on your head is nice and not stifling hot.
I have to say summer even though I can’t take the heat that well. But I love the colorful flowers, smell of newly mown lawn, the chirping of birds in the trees, sitting out on the patio under the umbrella drinking a glass of cold iced tea and reading a book, going to the park for picnics, working out in the yard when it’s not too hot and sitting out in the evening with a fire in the firepit and the clear lights in our tree in the backyard(makes it romantic in some way). I love the BBQ’s and the fresh air blowing through open windows.
I actually am a winter person. I think what I like best is the sun reflecting its light off the crisp, pure and pristine snow and giving everything it hits a sparkly, new appearance. It’s also wonderful to sit inside with a cup of hot chocolate, marshmallows melting and combining with the beverage, as you watch the snowflakes fall from within the warmth and security of your home.
Between summer and winter, definitely summer. My first choice though would be spring. New beginnings and all that. I planned both my children for spring and had one in April and one in May. After a cold, miserable winter I just love spring and the coming of flowers, buds on trees and warm breezes.
Since I live in Minnesota, it is probably hard to believe, but I am a summer person. I love the sunshine and warm days as opposed to cold, very cold temperatures with icy roads to drive on in winter and putting on many, many, many layers of clothes when I need to go outside. The best thing I like to do in Winter is curl up on the sofa with a nice warm afghan, a cup of hot chocolate and a wonderful book to read…or…pack up and move south for the winter…well, I can dream, can’t I??? Ha,ha!
I have lived in the midwest my entire life which has made me tolerable of this cold/snowy/icy weather. I find something to enjoy in the winter and summer. Although, I do rather prefer to not have to bundle myself up in lots of layers just to drive somewhere! After I get past the shivering stage, I’m okay…LOL
I am ready for some temps in the 50’s though…right now, that would feel like a heat wave Bring on the sunshine!!!
I am more a summer person where I can sit outside, get some fresh air and read a book. I don’t like the bulkiness of all the winter clothes. I like the look of snow when it is undisturbed not these big piles of snow that look gray. I understand that plows have to pile it like that when they clear parking lots and roads but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Like when I look out my apartment window, sure I see the ugly snow from the parking lot but beyond that is a park so there is a large area of undisturbed snow. But I still like summer better. There is more to do.
I am more of a summer person. It is so nice not to have to bundle up to go outside and there is so much more to do. I think of going to the beach or taking a day trip to a museum. Also, all the flowers are blooming and everything is nice and green instead of frozen and white like it is now.
I’m loving this discussion and all your comments on why you prefer one season to another. As I mentioned in the Tell Tale, I live in a mild climate (compared to many of you, anyway), and so my idea of the snowy winter is definitely idealised from reading too many snowbound romances. Although I do love curling up with hot chocolate and a cozy throw and an open fire and a good book or a good movie or a good man. I think this is also influenced by the fact that we DO have hot summers. Very hot summers. And at the moment it is February and very, very hot and after years of drought in my part of Australia, very, very dusty. I used to be a summer person, but not so much any more.
Minna, I imagine it is quite cold where you live at the moment so I hope you’re keeping warm.
Linda, it IS a gorgeous bracelet, isn’t it? The “woo-me” charm inspired the bracelet in Back In Fortune’s Bed…but I’m a bit of a charm bracelet tragic. I *love* them. My favourite is the one I’m building with a charm representing each of my books. It’s such fun deciding on a symbol for each book!
I am definately a summer person. I hate being cold and since I live in Ohio on the border of Michigan we had quite a winter blast this last week. 12 inches of snow and the temps were freezing. I did get to spend one day home from work since there was a level 3 out. This means only emergency vehicles were allowed on the road. Ya! got to spend the day in my pj’s nice and warm and caught up on my reading.
I am a summer person and love the sunshine, the soothing warmth and the beauty of the season. I would spend the entire summer at the beach and just relax there each day, walking along the seashore and sitting out on the sundeck reading. I love taking a walk in the evening when the sun is setting and it is dry and still balmy.
I grew up in the Midwest and tolerated the winters with hot fires, reading, ice skating and skiing thrown in to pass the time. BUT, I hated the inconvenience and danger of driving and walking on ice!! I had too many close calls. Plus, I hated all the layers of clothes!! The only good thing was a white Christmas!
Now I live in Florida and I’m so used to the warm that 60 feels chilly! I don’t like humidity but the heat I’ll take over cold any day! I love the outdoors and even if it rains you can go outside. My only gripe about summer is walking outside after being in a really cold air conditioned place… you’re instantly uncomfortable.
I live in Florida so I would have to say winter person. It is just too hot here in the summer. I love the holiday celebrations and drinking hot cocoa and tea other things winter brings.
Yes it’s a very beautiful bracelet. WoW! Very interesting about the woo-me charm great idea I love the idea of an author who makes bracelets and uses the charms based on their book very neat
I used to say I’m a winter person since I was born in December and love the winter….
But right now in mid February I am really looking foward to a warm summer or warm Spring. I can’t wait to go to the beach and boardwalk and to dig my capris out my closet. And I miss getting pedicures and being able to leave the salon in flip flops without fear of freezing my toes off! I like getting my nails and toes painted bright neon colors, but in the winter it looks odd and I can’t really show my neon Hot Pink toes off while there’s snow on the ground!
Definitely a winter person. I like lots of things about winter. I like almost everything about it.. something about it takes the edge and temper out of me. When I go out in winter while furious for any reason.. winter’s cold air hitting me in the face is all I need to cool down. If I walk in the rain it’d be the best day ever.. cold air and rain drops makes me feel very much free and at peace with myself.
Wow, more great posts. The scales are definitely tilted toward the summer people and I can understand why after reading Teresa’s post about how cold it gets over there. Mind you, the day off to stay home curled up with a good book sounds nice (to someone not snowed in, mind you.) In Australia we’re more likely to get days off in the summer. At least that’s the case with schools. No snow-days here, but some places in the interior (where it gets REALLY hot) close the doors because it’s too HOT in February.
Bronwyn is out of town at the moment and charged us with the task of announcing her winner. Congratulations to Linda H. for winning the prize! Bronwyn will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
